GUJRANWALA: PPP information secretary Sagheer Butt and other leaders strongly criticised ex-party leader Imtiaz Safdar Warriach for his announcement to joint PTI and said that the PPP needed loyal leaders and workers.
Imtiaz’s decision had hurt PPP workers but his departure would not impact the PPP. He was addressing a press conference here at Gujranwala while city vice president Rana Hanif, president traders wing Malik Zulifqar Bhutto, vice president Ahad Ramey, vice president lawyers wing Adnan Jamil and others were also present in the press conference. Sagheer Butt said that Imtiaz Safdar Warriach was facilitated with ministry and huge development funds in the PPP government but he failed to deliver. Asif Ali Zardari nominated Imtiaz Safdar Warriach as president of PPP Punjab but he did not succeed in maintaining close coordination with the workers. Asif Ali Zardari has also given seven ministries to Gujranwala division but unfortunately due to the ‘selfishness’ of party leaders – including Imtiaz Safdar Warriach, Nazar Gondal and Firdous Ashsi Awan – voters and workers were not helpful which caused a great loss to the party in the 2013 general election. Butt asserted that those who leave the party in a critical condition shall not succeed in gaining such honour and dignity from their new bosses and parties – they will be known as deceivers. He also believed that conspiracies are constantly being hatched against the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to weaken it. Weakening the PPP is tantamount to weakening the federation, whenever such conspiracies are hatched, this has weakened the federation, according to him. Sagheer Butt expressed his confidence that the ongoing `propaganda` against the PPP would come to an end soon. He also rejected anti-PPP forces` claim that the party was losing its popularity and affirmed that PPP would win the mandate of the people across the country in the 2018 general elections.
