ISLAMABAD: Following a report’s telecast on a private news channel, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan took notice of a woman’s case on Sunday.
According to the report, Rubina, the Pakistani woman, travelled to India from Hyderabad (Sindh) with her husband and her daughter for treatment in 2012. Her husband mysteriously disappeared with her travel documents and left her in Delhi. Rubina was arrested by Indian police and detained in a jail in Occupied Kashmir, where she is being kept since the last four years.
The Jammu Kashmir High Court ordered to send the woman back to Pakistan immediately, but a report submitted by Indian officials said that the Pakistan High commission did not confirm her citizenship, so Rubina could not be deported.
When this report was brought to the public’s eyes, Nisar ordered the Passport Director and Chairman NADRA to verify Rubina’s particulars and, if proved a Pakistani citizen, make arrangements to bring her back.
