On the International Literacy Day, a rally was held in Muzaffargarh on Tuesday, led by District Education Officer of Literacy Tahira Rafique and Education Chief Executive Officer Kausar Hussain Bukhari. The rally highlighted the importance of imparting education to out-of-school children. Ms Tahira said thousands of children had been enrolled in non-formal schools under the admission campaign 2020-2021. In addition, 60 adult education centers have been set up in the district. Also, 330 adult inmates in District Jail Muzaffargarh and 1,360 illiterate women have completed literacy classes.
The International Literacy Day 2020 focuses on ‘Literacy teaching and learning in the COVID-19 crisis and beyond’, especially on the role of educators and changing pedagogies. The theme highlights literacy learning in a lifelong learning perspective, and therefore, mainly focuses on youth and adults.
