The students of Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science & Technology (QUEST), Larkana Campus, who have passed their annual examinations, held a protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh on Friday against non-registration of the campus by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). They held large placards in their hands and were shouting slogans in favour of their just demand. Amjad Ali Rongho, Izhar Jhatyal, Kamran Phulpoto, Saifullah Junejo, Abdul Khalique Soomro, Raja Khan Mahar, Abdul Qadir Mahar and others complained to newsmen that Larkana Campus of Nawabshah’s Quaid-e-Awam Engineering University was established in 2010 so that poor male and female students could get higher professional engineering education at their doorsteps. They alleged that hundreds of boys and girl students have passed their annual examinations from the Campus from 2018 to 2020 in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering but registration of the Campus has not yet been made by PEC due to which their future is at stake and hanging in the balance. They said their parents spent millions of rupees over their higher education and they also worked very hard to come out with flying colors to serve the nation in relevant technical fields but their degrees are of no value for government and non-government organizations and are not even being accepted by private organizations till these are recognised and registered by the PEC. They said we cannot even appear in any competitive examinations held by the public service commission. They appealed to Sindh Chief Minister, advisor to Chief Minister for Universities and Boards and other concerned authorities to take immediate notice of the issue and to save their future by getting the Larkana Campus registered with PEC or else, they warned, they will spread their protest across the province, to save their future.
