A number of Pakistanis all over world approached the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat with the request to continue and ensure delivery of their passports and NICOPs.
They have asked that respective departments be advised to delivery of these documents to respective Pak Missions for onward delivery and on individual addresses of Pakistanis as well which has been suspended due to pandemic situation and they have suffered.
Hafiz Ahsaan Ahnad Khokher Senior Advisor / Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis in Federal Ombudsman Secretariat took Cognizance the subject matter and issued notices to Ministry of Interior , DG Passports , Chairman NADRA for submission of report and to address the issue of Overseas Pakistanis living all over world and fixed the matter for hearing. During the hearing , representative of DG Passports has informed that delivery of Passports have been started on both Pak Missions and On individual addresses of Overseas Pakistanis, and so far 9576 passports have been dispatched to different Pak Missions and 463 passports have been dispatched to Malaysia by Passports department. The report further revealed that to further avoid inconvenience to Pakistanis during pandemic situation, and with the objective to provide interim relief, the validity period of Passports to the extent of one year has been increased as per orders of Ministry of Interior. NADRA has submitted to Federal Ombudsman Secretariat that courier services were discontinued due to pandemic crises but now it has been restarted. Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokher Senior Advisor and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis Federal Ombudsman Secretariat has confirmed that after taking Cognizance by Federal Ombudsman Secretariat and with restoration of these services regarding passports and NICOPs, by both departments, thousands Pakistanis living all over the world would get benefit and they would be able to receive their these important documents at their respective Missions and on their individual addresses all over world.
