On the directives of provincial government, all restaurants and hairdressers were shut down and sports activities were suspended by the local administration aimed threat of spread of coronavirus on Thursday. Additional Assistant Commissioner, Landi Kotal Shamsul Islam while sharing details said that keeping in the view spreading of COVID 19 disease across the country, the district administration, Khyber through immediately effective notice, circulated here asked to lock down all restaurants, hotels and shops of beans, stalls served cooked foods to attract more gatherings in Landi Kotal bazaar. He added that sports gatherings were also banned and urged upon the local youth community to stay away from all sports doings and games competitions. The ban would be effective till 5th, April, 2020, he maintained. The purpose of the initiative was to disperse crowd in markets to avid spreading of the coronavirus in the area, the official said. The official said that the initiative was taken as precautionary step to halt spread of coronavirus in the area. He stressed upon the residents to assist government by implementing strict decisions as restricted policy was need of time. It is to be mentioned here that approximately 8970 persons have dead while 219385 have effected in the world so far of coronavirus.
