The civil society, journalists, lawyers and students strongly protested and staged a sit-in outside Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur on Tuesday against the non registration of pharmacy department and corruption in SALU.
The protest was led by renowned journalist Mushtaq Sarki, lawyers Fayyaz Khamesani Advocate, Ahmed Ali Memon advocate, Noor Muhammad Tunio Advocate, Safadar Saheto,Punhal Sario, Asadullah Larik and others.
The protesters were chanting slogans against the SALU vice chancellor Parveen shah, registrar Asad Raza Abdi and other members of administrative staff over the corruption. They leaders while addressing the gathering alleged that corruption has been increased in SALU by vice chancellor. They demanded removal of vice chancellor and registrar immediately and demanded inquiry against them.
During the protest, some students and staff whose were inside the varsity premises attacked on peaceful protesters and broke the mirrors of vehicles. Later, the police used lathi charge and threw tear shells upon the peace full protesters due to which many protesters were injured.
Meanwhile police have arrested over 30 students, journalists, lawyers and civil society representatives including prominent journalist Mushtaq Sarki, lawyers Fayyaz Khamesani Advocate, Ahmed Ali Memon advocate, Noor Muhammad Tunio Advocate, Safadar Saheto,Punhal Sario, and Asadullah. Local journalists Mithal Khuhro, Hajjan Simang and others were also injured by shelling of police.

It was mentioned that the pharmacy department was established 9 years ago but it has not been registered till to date and students are continuously protesting since long. Now, the social organizations, lawyers and others have joined in the protest with students.
Mean while the media coordinator Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur Muhammad Ibrahim Khokhar in his press release condemned the use of abusive language by against Professors, Students, Officers and Employees outside University gate by outsider protesters.
The spokesperson alleged that the protestors led by journalist Mushtaque Sarki and his cronies tried to invade Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur through handful of supporters but university students and law enforcing agencies failed their attempts. He told that Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur administration never opposes peaceful protest, and never believes in use of force but those who take law and order in hand and try to sabotage peaceful environment of University would never be allowed to achieve their vested interests. “When the talks with Students Action Committee of Pharmacy Department were successful under the mediation of District Government and arbitrators, there was no moral, legal or ethical justification of this protest. The call of protest was altogether rejected by social activists, students and education loving people. This resulted in poor attendance in the protest. However, out of frustration, the speakers of protesters used invective language to entice participants for clash, the spokesperson added. In this regard, teachers, officers, employees and students would hold rally on Wednesday February 27, 2019, against this attack on University sanctity. The spokesperson told that all stakeholders are united against any conspiracy to create disturbance and hindrance in peaceful academic environment of the University.
