The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has directed the Industries & Production Ministry to ensure placing of names of personnel under investigation in National Accountability of Bureau (NAB) cases regarding Pakistan Steel Mills on the Exit Control List. The direction was given by the committee at its meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday with Finance Minister Asad Umar in chair. Earlier, the ministry gave the meeting an update on the current status of NAB cases about Pakistan Steel Mills.
The ECC considered and approved the proposal of the Commerce Ministry regarding necessary additions in labelling requirements for import of edible products.
National Food Security & Research Ministry apprised the ECC about the demand and supply situation of urea and DAP fertilisers in the country. The ECC directed for continued functioning of urea plants until October 2019 to ensure sufficient supply of fertilisers. The ECC also directed for formation of a committee headed by Ports & Shipping Minister to bring up proposals for prompt and efficient cargo clearance at ports. It also ordered to form a Task Force headed by special adviser to prime minister on overseas & human resource development for giving concrete proposals on development and export of manpower.
