ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Monday withdrew option from Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Tallal Chaudhry to present any witnesses in the contempt proceedings against him.
Earlier the SC had initiated contempt proceedings against the then State Minister over derogatory and anti-judiciary remarks during his speeches, issuing a notice on February 2.
During the hearing today, Justice Gulzar Ahmed ordered Chaudhry to present the defense’s final arguments himself, if his witnesses are unwilling to appear before the court.
Chaudhry’s counsel pled the court to adjourn the hearing until after the general elections 2018.
The bench rejected the defense counsel’s request and adjourned the hearing until July 11, directing the defense to present final arguments of the case.
