MOHMAND AGENCY: Pakistan Red Crescent Mohmand Agency branch on Wednesday celebrated International Mine Awareness Day at lower sub division Ekka Ghund.
The event was supported by PRC FATA. Local community, tribal elders and mine victims participated in the event.
The theme of the day was ‘To promote development and Safety’
Assistant Political Agent (APA) Agency Secretary PRC Mohmand Fauzee Khan said that PRC FATA has been working on disaster preparedness, First Aid Trainings, and Emergency response to cope with IED blasts.
He said that First Aids Trainings had been given to more than 350 Levies (Khasadar) as well as to the local community from 2012 to 2014.
He said that primary objectives of MRE are to minimize the injuries of tribesmen occurred by land mine blasts and unexploded ordnances in the region.
Agency Officer Community Based Risk Education Afzal Khan, Agency Social Welfare Officer Ibrar Khan and amputees with their elders from Ambar, Pindiali, Ekka Ghund and Prang Ghar also participated in the event.
21 gift packs were distributed among the conflict amputees who belong to Biazai, Safi and Ambar tehsil.
