ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP)Thursday approved 33 projects worth Rs 50.5 billion, out of which two projects worth Rs22.5 billion were referred to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for further proceedings.
The CDWP meeting was chaired by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Sartaj Aziz. The projects presented for approval related to the energy, health, education, manpower, governance, physical planning and housing, transport and communications, water resources and mass media sectors. In addition, two position papers were presented in the meeting.
In the energy sector, three projects were presented out of which one project titled ‘Interconnection of Isolated GwadarandMakranwith National Grid of Pakistan’ was referred to the ECNEC.In the health sector, three projects were presented out of which one was referred to the ECNEC.
The CDWP approved establishment of Medical Device Development Centre (MDDC) at the National University of Science and Technology(NUST) with a cost of Rs 231.83 million.Establishment of 500 bed teaching hospital and medical college at the University of Karachi with a cost of Rs 8406 millionwas referred to the ECNEC.
In the education sector, nine projects were approved including establishment of FG Degree College for Boys at KohatCantt, strengthening of core network and expansion of PERN through CPEC optical fibre, establishment of technology development centre at the University of Agriculture in Peshawar, establishment of centre for livestock breeding genetics and genomics at Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, and establishment of campus of Government College University Faisalabad in Chiniot.
In the manpower sector, a project for establishment of polytechnic institute for boys at Skardu with a cost of Rs 602 million was approved.
In the governance sector, up-gradation of firefighting system in Karachi and establishment of model police station in ICT with a cost of Rs 1742 million and Rs 2482.416 million respectively were approved.
In physical planning and housing sector, Gwadar smart environment sanitation system and landfill project with a cost of Rs 2268.66 million was approved. In addition, extension of Federal Lodge No 1, Karachi, was approved with a cost of Rs 277.144 million.In transport and communication sector, construction of black top road between Sangan and Aab-e-Gum was approved with a cost of Rs 2195.87 million.
The CDWP approved 13 projects of construction of dams including flood bund in Dallas Canal Division in Rahim Yar Khan.
