LAHORE: Pakistan’s biggest information technology (IT) event SOFTEC kicked off at National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences FAST Lahore here on Saturday.
Thousands of students from various schools and colleges across Pakistan participate every year in the mega technology comprising different contests, including engineering project competition, software project competition, web development competition, gaming competition, Robo Rumble (robotic war), app development competition, graphic designing competition and programming competition.
SOFTEC President Junaid Aslam Tarar said that the SOFTEC had set a new milestone in the field of information technology and that it had promoted technical image of Pakistan. “The SOFTEC is being organised for the last 20 years and this year is its 21th edition and like every year, this year’s SOFTEC will also be a huge success,” he said.
FAST NU Director Dr Amjad Hussain, Head of CS Department Dr Kashif Zafar and former SOFTEC’s president Ayesha Ch attended opening ceremony as the chief guests.
In his opening remarks, Adviser of SOFTEC Society Dr Haroon Mahmood said that such events they provide a platform to students to show their skills and talent and an opportunity to promote a good image or Pakistan.
“The two day event will conclude today where IBM Country Manager Ghazanfar Ali will be the chief guest.
