University of Management and Technology (UMT) held its 19th Annual Convocation 2020 at varsity’s Johar Town campus Lahore. Total 2,340 graduates were given away degrees in various disciplines on this occasion, including 1,517 Bachelors, 296 Masters, 509 MS/MPhil and 18 PhD degrees.
Members of the Board of Governors, Members of the Board of Trustees, Faculty Members, Eminent Guests, and Graduating Students attended the proceedings of the convocation.
Furthermore 34 Patron’s Gold Medals, 35 Rector’s Silver Medals, 17 Rector’s Academic Excellence Awards Gold Medal, 13 Certificates of Excellence, 05 Rector’s Research Recognition Award, 09 Special Medal Awards, 07 Rector’s Award for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, 19 Extra Curricular Medal and Award, 04 Highest Number of Publications (Faculty), 04 Highest Impact Factor Publication (Faculty) were also given away on the occasion of the annual convocation
Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar said that your accomplishments should be a source of pride for you, your University and indeed for your Parents. He encouraged them to be responsible citizens of society. In his address, he paid a glowing tribute to Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad (Shaheed) for his contributions to the dignified cause of dissemination of knowledge. He expressed that the criteria of success is not measured by a person’s designation, wealth or the power he has, but his contributions towards society because history remembers those who do so. The best way to celebrate a great human is to follow his footsteps and he commended President UMT for carrying his father’s legacy and vision forth. Governor Punjab also advised the students to always respect their parents as they have worked hard in dire times to provide quality education to their children and their prayers shall take those places.
UMT/ILM President Ibrahim Hassan Murad in his address welcomed Chaudhry Sarwar, Governor Punjab and Patron UMT, by saying that he is a patron by deeds and actions in true spirit. He congratulated the graduating students and their families on behalf of UMT and ILM Trust. Addressing the occasions, he added that we are just recovering from a global pandemic that has taken countless lives and by the grace of Allah Almighty and with your cooperation; UMT did not waver in the face of this monstrous challenge. He said that our prime concern throughout this challenge was to provide uninterrupted services to our students. We deployed every resource at our disposal to minimize the impact of this pandemic on the teaching and learning processes. I am pleased that without any compromise or any degradation of the quality of our education, UMT successfully contained the prospective damage and found new opportunities by relying on our spirit of innovation.
Paying homage to great Islamic scholar Khurram Murad and Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad, Ibrahim Murad said that these learned personalities gave new direction to education in Pakistan which manifest in the development of character. These personalities laid the ideological foundations of this esteemed institution that is indeed a matter of pride for the whole nation. Further he expressed to students that this is the right time to pay your debt to society by educating the less fortunate, as when you become oblivious of the future you also lose the world hereafter.
Dr. Muhammad Aslam, the rector UMT extended a warmest welcome note to all chief guests, guests of honors and participants. While delivered a thoughtful speech where he congratulated the graduates for all their hard work in attaining such a huge milestone. He expressed that the graduating students must put their learning and perspective into practice and be model professionals and exemplary human beings.
Rector UMT presented a detailed report describing different milestones achieved by UMT over the period of time and appreciated the hard work and dedication of the Management and faculty in making UMT an institution par excellence. He added that we hope our graduating students will be a source of pride for UMT and will achieve countless laurels, both as professionals and human beings and also expressed good wishes for the progress and development of Pakistan and UMT.
