Lahore: A court in Lahore has extended the judicial physical remand of N-League’s senior-most leader Rana Sanaullah till 24 August.
The PML-N leader was given copies of the challans against him in today’s hearing. The court has also asked the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) to run by the CCTV footage in the next scheduled hearing.
Rana Sanaullah was arrested by the ANF on 1st July from the Sukheki area Islamabad, Punjab over possession of ‘large quantity of drugs’. The ANF issued a statement, that “A large number of drugs was recovered from Sanaullah’s car,” and that they do not arrest anyone without any reason whatsoever. “Our mandate is to fight against narcotics” they added in their statement.
Rana Sanaullah is a member of the National Assembly as well as the President of the PML-N Punjab Wing.
PML-N’s Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif has since then tweeted “What has ANS got to do with Rana Sanaullah? It could not get more absurd. He has been arrested for his bold & courageous stance. Jaali-e-Azam being the small & petty-minded man that he is is directly behind his arrest. Make no mistake.”
She said that the government should focus on the issues of the general public rather than being worried about the PML-N.
