The sub-Committee on Communications showed grave displeasure on the absence of Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA) Jawad Rafique Malik on Tuesday.
Convener Committee Senator Behramand Tangi said that this had been the fourth time since the Chairman was summoned. This, he said showed the level of respect the Chairman has for this august forum.
While discussing the point of Public Importance raised by Senator Lt. Gen (R) Salahuddin Tirmizi regarding payment to land owners whose land was acquired for roads from Kaghan Babusar Top, the sub-Committee showed dismay on NHA’s slow progress.
Additional Secretary Communications, Dr. Tashfeen Khan apologized for the organization’s lax attitude and said that he would personally ensure that things are expedited.
He instructed NHA to conduct meetings with the land owners along with the area’s Deputy Commissioner and resolve the issue at the earliest.
He said that determining the gap between NHA’s offer and the land owner’s demand is the first step towards resolving this issue. Convener Committee, Senator Behramand Tangi said that the presence of Dr. Tashfeen in future meetings would be appreciated.
The meeting was attended amongst others by Senator Lt. Gen (R) Salahuddin Tirmizi, Senator Fida Muhammad and senior officers from the Ministry of Communications along with all concerned.
