Punjab reported 55 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed cases across the province to 96,233. However, according to Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, no death related to the contagion was reported in the province for the third straight day.
As many as 874,784 samples have been tested for the presence of Covid-19 thus far in the province. Whereas, the number of people recuperating from the infection has surged to 91,161. The number of people died from the disease in the province stands at 2,188.
The Punjab government had imposed ‘micro smart lockdown’ in small neighbourhoods of three cities for a period of fourteen days to prevent the spread of deadly coronavirus. The cities where localities have been sealed include Lahore, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala. More than a dozen areas have been locked down in these cities.
On Monday, 172 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Sindh, taking the provincial tally to 128,456, according to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. Six more people lost their lives, with Sindh’s overall death toll rising to 2,373. A total of 7,426 tests were carried out in the province during the last 24 hours, according to Shah.
Islamabad and the federal territories collectively reported 56 new cases of the novel coronavirus, according to official statistics. Following is a breakdown of the cases reported in each territory: Islamabad: 22, Gilgit Baltistan: 25, Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 9, No deaths were reported.
Pakistan has recorded 993 recoveries in the past 24 hours, according to the government’s Covid-19 portal. The total number of recoveries in the country is now 277,118, the bulk of which have been reported from Sindh. As many as 686 patients are in a critical state.
