US peace envoy for Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, has delayed his visit to Pakistan by a day, Officials noted the change in plans on Thursday. Khalilzad, who is currently in Afghanistan, was scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on Thursday. Previously, he has twice skipped visits to Pakistan despite an announcement by the State Department.
On the other hand, the special envoy faces great trouble as he has failed to strike a deal with Taliban this time round in spite of the hectic negotiations in Qatar over the past six months. He was assigned the task in September.
Last month, Khalilzad was severely criticised by Afghan National Security Adviser, Hamdullah Mohib, for his alleged quest for political ambitions in Afghanistan.
