GUJRANWALA: A bank guard was gunned down over resistance in a robbery at Qilla Deedar Singh.
Two armed men entered in MCB and looted cash at gunpoint. When guard Muhammad Asghar put up resistance the robbers opened fire on him. Resultantly Asghar received bullets and died on the spot. Both the accused were succeeded to escape from the scene with Rs1 million.
Separately, the anti-corruption team raided at CPO office and arrested a senior clerk while receiving bribe. Retired police constable Azmat Ali gave an application that senior clerk Sajjad Hussain was demanding Rs 40,000 for putting up his pension case. On the application judicial magistrate Ali Meeran and circle officer anti-corruption Amir Sandhu raided the CPO office and held Sajjad. A case has been registered against the accused.
Meanwhile, a labourer was suffocated in a bicycle manufacturing factory at Alam Chowk. Workers were busy when factory store room caught fire due to electric short circuit due to which Nadeem died due to suffocation.
