ISLAMABAD: A medical board that examined the 10-year-old child maid, Tayyaba, confirmed that her body bore marks of torture.
Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Vice Chancellor Dr Javed Ikram informed media that he had completed Tayyaba’s medical examination and had found torture marks on her body. Ikram said that his team obtained DNA samples of Tayyaba as well as samples of burn marks on her body. Moreover, DNA samples of Tayyaba’s father, Azam, and brother, Zain, were also obtained.
Previously, Law Enforcement Agencies had recovered Tayyaba from the house of Additional Sessions Judge Raja Khurram Khan. The minor girl, whose face and hands bore torture marks, had initially denied being hurt by her employers but had later told police that she was tortured. The girl’s father settled the matter out of court in response to which the Chief Justice had taken suo motu notice of the case, directing that a medical examination be held. The Chief Justice also summoned Tayyaba’s parents, the accused judge, and the police officials for a hearing on Wednesday.
