KHAIRPUR: Chief Justice (CJ), Sindh High Court (SHC), Justice Sajjad Ali Shah has said on Wednesday that the bench and bar would have to discharge their professional obligations to satisfy litigants in the larger interest of the judicial system’s survival.
He was addressing the opening ceremony of the newly constructed Judicial Complex and Library building for the advocates at Tharimirwah.
The CJ said that efforts were made to improve the judiciary during last few years as 30 judges were dismissed on proven corruption charges against them, while 10 judges were appointed on merit. He said that practice of law was a respectable profession and lawyers were the true implementers of the law.
Expressing satisfaction over the transparent appointments of judges at every level in the judiciary, Justice Sajjad said, appointments were given on merit and with honesty. Able, hard-working and honest young lawyers were joining the profession to play a positive role, he said, adding that the performance of this young breed would improve the judicial system. He observed that advocacy was a full-time job and one should disassociate from all other activities to emerge as a successful lawyer. “The profession of law demanded that lawyers must have humanitarian considerations and should never avoid giving sacrifices for the cause of justice,” he said. “Lawyers should cooperate in quick disposing of cases,” he said and announced Rs one lac for furniture, books and for a new building to be established for Faiz Gunj Courts.
A large number of lawyers including Justice Sayed Hassan Athahar Rizvi, Justice Abdul Rasool Memon, Justice Sadiq Hussain Bhatti, Justice Ashiq Hussain Gorar, Justice Faheem Ahmed Siddiqi, Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh, district and session judge Khairpur Sayed Ghulam Shah, Registrar High Court Sindh Gulam Mustafa Memon, D.C Khairpur Muhammad SaleemRajpute, SSP Ghulam Azafar Mahesar and Additional Advocate General, Liaq Ali Shar attended the ceremony.
