Pakistan on Saturday witnessed the lowest death as only one individual expired of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours across the country.
No Covid-affected patient is currently on ventilator in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and Balochistan, the National command and Operation Centre (NCOC) revealed on Saturday in its latest statistics of Covid-19 deaths, positive cases and recovered patients across country. Almost 112 ventilators are currently occupied across country out of a total of 1,920 ventilators allocated for Covid-19, it said.
During last 24 hours, 319 people tested positive where the total active coronavirus cases reported across country stand at 8,748. As many as 22,434 tests were conducted on August 28, with 5,247 in Sindh, 9,603 in Punjab, 3,556 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 3,004 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 473 in Balochistan, 276 in GB and 275 in AJK. Around 280,340 people have recovered so far across Pakistan, making it a significant count with over 90 percent recovery ratio.
Since the pandemic broke out, a total of 295,372 cases have been detected so far, including 2,290 in AJK, 12,804 in Balochistan, 2,832 in GB, 15,597 in ICT, 35,971 in KP, 96,699 in Punjab, and 129,179 in Sindh. Since the contagion gripped country, around 6284 deaths have been recorded. In Sindh, 2,395 lost battle of their life while fighting the virus, 2,195 in Punjab and 1,250 in KP. In ICT, 175 deaths have been recorded, in Balochistan 141, in GB 67 whereas the lowest deaths – 61 – have been reported from AJK.
On Saturday, Punjab reported 33 new Covid-19 cases, down from 96 a day earlier, according to the government’s portal. This has taken the provincial total to 96,669. It has reported no additional fatalities from the virus. More than 92,000 people have recovered from the virus in the province so far. Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir collectively reported 48 new coronavirus cases and no additional deaths.
