On the directions of the NAB chairman, regional office NAB Sukkur is investigating the wheat scam and vigorously pursuing the wheat mafia and its collusion with the officers and officials of Food Department, Govt. of Sindh. In this context NAB, Sukkur conducted raids and crack down upon the mafia last night and apprehended 04x accused persons, who misappropriated govt wheat stock worth Rs 802,446,838 (80 Crores). Further raids are underway to apprehend the other members of Mafia for misappropriating Govt. wheat stock worth Rs. 50 Crores. Further NAB, Sukkur has extended its investigation to the culprits in Food Department, Govt. of Sindh who facilitated the Mafia in the scam. NAB Sukkur has already Recovered Rs. 10.5 billion from the Mafia and remitted the same to Food Department, Govt. of Sindh. In addition to these recoveries already made NAB Sukkur has so far submitted 8x references in Court against 39x accused including officers / officials of Food Department and private persons. NAB Sukkur is actively implementing the vision of worthy Chairman, NAB in letter and spirit.
