Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Thursday said that a special meeting of NCC will be held on Monday (June 1) to finalise strategy regarding coronavirus for June.
Chairing a meeting at National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), the minister asked the provinces including GB and AJK to finalize their recommendations regarding Covid-19 by Saturday for consideration. He stressed for devising a mechanism to provide latest information about availability of beds and ventilators in country’s hospitals to facilitate Covid-19 patients. He said that such information will facilitate the infected to get admission in hospitals as per their own preference and the availability of beds and ventilators.
The NCOC was apprised that sufficient beds and ventilators are available in country’s hospitals for accommodating Covid-19 patients and that most of the infected patients prefer home isolation. The forum also reviewed the progress on the implementation status of Covid-19 guidelines.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Interior Brig (r) Ejaz Shah, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza, Prime Minister’s focal person on Covid-19 Dr Faisal Sultan, and Chief Coordinator NCOC Lt Gen Hamud Uz Zaman Khan. High ranking officials of four provinces including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) attended the session via video link.
