The Government of Sindh announced on Thursday that due to coronavirus, there will be no examinations for inter and matric students.
The Sindh minister cleared the air regarding the situation after a meeting of the Sindh Education Steering Committee session.
The provincial education minister, in a statement, said that the students will be promoted without exams.
Ghani said that a legislative change or an amendment will be required to promote the students to next class, adding that the decision to pass the students is final.
Ghani had asked schools to pass their students on the basis of their academic performance throughout the year.
As for those students who under performed or failed some subjects in their last exams, Ghani advised schools to retake their tests and adjust the marks.
He pointed out that the law pertaining to board exams do not allow the promotion of students who have not appeared. In order to do so, the law will have to be amended. Ghani said that a committee has been formed to ponder over the issue and its recommendations will be passed on to the federal government.
According to sources, none of the secretaries, including Secretary Schools Khalid Haider Shah, gave any opinion on the matter of conducting examinations in Sindh.
