PML-N President and leader of the opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has urged the federal government to adopt the policies of the Sindh government in order to fight the war against coronavirus outbreak in the country.
The charter of demand prepared by the Sindh government and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah regarding the corona pandemic must be sent to the federal government and it should implement it immediately in the whole country for the better interest of people, the PML-N president said on Thursday.
He further added that the meeting of Council of Common Interest (CCI) must be convened on daily basis keeping in view the prevailing situation in the country. The opposition leader also demanded that the Local Governments must be reinstated in Punjab as these LGs will be very beneficial in this testing time. He put these demands before the government while giving a plan regarding the provision of food and medicine to the people during the lockdown period.
According to the details, the PML-N President said that the government must initiate the provision of food and medicine through the utility stores while using mobile applications. The government can also use the post office and NLC for this purpose where the people can book the orders through mobile application during the lockdown period. “The lockdown in the whole country is now inevitable keeping in view the surge in the cases of Corona Virus,” said Shehbaz while talking about new cases in different areas of federal capital including Bara Kahu and Shehzad Town that were sealed by the government after cases surfaced there. He also demanded food and medicine for the poor people of Bara Kahu living in the slums. According to Shehbaz, the government must immediately start anti-germs spray in the whole country for the safety of people and should seek the help of China in this regard.
Shehbaz Sharif also demanded that the demands put by the opposition should become part of the government policy to fight the war of Corona. He further demanded that the Parliamentary Committee must be renamed as ‘Monitoring Parliamentary Committee’ and it must be given a permanent status in this hard time.
Paying tribute to the doctors’ community, Shehbaz said that the salaries of all the medics must be doubled in immediately. He asked the government to provide safety kits to doctors, nurses and paramedical staff who are fighting this war in the hospitals. You all must hoist white flag at your residences to pay tribute to the doctors, he said.
Moreover, Shehbaz Sharif also directed all the MNAs, MPAs and office bearers of the party to play an active role in the relief activities in their respective constituencies in this hard time when the nation is fighting the Corona Virus. Shehbaz Sharif said that the PML-N has much bigger responsibilities in this hard time as it is the largest political force. “I am very glad that the PML-N has crafted a national policy to deal with the Corona pandemic after thorough deliberations with all the stakeholders,” said PML-N President. We have demanded a financial emergency in the country and the government must distribute relief items in the situation of lockdown at the doorsteps of people, he said. Shehbaz Sharif directed all the PML-N leaders to maintain the lists of deserving people in their areas while urging them to help the needy people in this testing time. “All the MNAs, MPAs and members of Local Government hailing from the PML-N must speed up the relief activities in their respected constituencies,” Sharif said.
