UMTThe 18th International and 30th National Conference on Recent Trends in Chemistry was held at the University of Management and Technology (UMT).
The conference was organized by Dr Sammia Shahid (Dean Research), the Department of Chemistry, University of Management and Technology in close collaboration with Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Higher Education Commission and The Chemical Society of Pakistan. A large number of National and International experts representing government agencies, civil societies, academia, public and private sectors participated and presented 230 research papers on a wide range of themes related to Recent Trends in Chemistry included 190 oral and poster presentations along with 40plenary and invited speeches.
Rector UMT Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Director General UMT Abid HK Shirwani, Dr. Ellene Tratras(USA), Dr. Zeliha Selamoglu (Turkey), Dr. Wang Yan(China), Dr. Muhammad Abbas(Austria), Dr. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh (FCCU), Dr. Jan Nisar, National Centre of Excellence in Physical Chemistry(Peshawar), Dr Khalid M Khan (International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences) Dr AK Lodhi (UMT), Dr GA Miana President Chemical Society of Pakistan, Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhry (Guest of Honour, Director ICCBS Karachi), students & teachers and others participated in the conference.
The conference was inaugurated by key-note address of Rector UMT Dr. Muhammad Aslam who warmly welcomed all the national and International experts for being the part of this conference and said that this initiative provided a solid platform to participants around the globe to share their research findings with one another and to discuss their ideas in relation to the vast field of Chemistry. Rector UMT was of the view that promotion of basic science is the need of hour and without it we could not find out the solutions of challenges faced by society. Furthermore he added that UMT is producing the experts of all fields including Business, management, IT and Science as well and urges its students to pay more focus on research-based studies. Dr. Aslam suggested that latest research based results are the only tools which can play vital role in the development of area of Chemistry (Science).
Dr. Ellene Tratras from Eastern Michigan University USA and other experts shared their thoughts and said that Pakistani scientists have great potential to work. UMT is doing good job by organizing such conference where all experts and scientists get together and find out the solution of problems through collaborative efforts; they said. The panel of experts also discussed the impact of the development of training courses in the field of Chemistry.
The Conference was comprised on technical sessions such as: Organic, Inorganic, Physical, Analytical, Environmental, Natural Product, Material, Nano, Nuclear, Biological, Nutritional, Agricultural, Electro, Industrial, Polymer, Textile and Computational Chemistry.
