In a major Administrative changes in Punjab, Major (Retd) Azam Sulaiman took over as Chief Secretary from Nasim Khokhar while Shoaib Dastageer replaced Arif Nawaz as Inspector General Police (IGP).
Meanwhile, Maj (retd) Azam Suleman has been appointed as Punjab chief secretary. He has replaced Yousaf Naseem Khokhar who was asked to report to the Establishment Division. A notification has been issued in this regard.
According to details, these replacements were part of the planned changes after Prime Minister Imran Khan met Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Monday. The Chief Minister house has confirmed the appointment of the new IGP and said that the relevant notice has been issued by the Establishment Division.
It is expected that further changes in the Punjab administration will be revealed in the coming days. The lists of officers who will be changed include officers from Grade 19 to Grade 21. Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar came under some serious scrutiny in the core-committee meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after PTI’s core committee voice concerns over his performance. The core-committee also expressed concerns on the policy adopted to run administrative-affairs of the Punjab. The attendants further urged to address governance and administrative issues of Punjab at the earliest.
A provincial leader, however, claimed that this time some ministers would be shown the door while portfolios of the powerful ones would be changed if not removed altogether from the cabinet.
