Honorable Justice Mr. Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB said that NAB is committed to eradicate corruption by adopting “Accountability for All” Policy through Enforcement, Awareness and Prevention strategy in order to nab corrupt elements and to recover looted money of innocent people by using all its resources. NAB’s performance during the last 19 months remained excellent which was appreciated by all segments of society besides reputed national and international organizations. He said that NAB since its inception recovered Rs. 326 billion and deposited in national exchequer. He said that NAB during 2018 recovered Rs. 30 billion and recovery made during 2019 is being worked out which is bigger than the year 2018. He said that the earners of quick and illegal money go to their final destination empty handed.
Chairman NAB said Double Shah was made as Single Shah. We have recovered Rs. 4 billion from Double Shah which had been returned to the victims of Double Shah during 2018. He said that NAB believes in transparency and supremacy of law. He said that during 2018 and 2019, billions of rupees were recovered from illegal housing/cooperative societies and returned to housing societies affectees. He said that concerned departments should take notice of advertisements of illegal, fake and non registered housing societies. The people should check from concerned govt departments/regulators about the veracity of such housing societies whether the society has received NOC and its lay out plan has been approved from the concerned departments i.e. CDA, ICT, RDA, LDA, KDA, PDA and QDA or has land in its possession as per law.
He said that due to NAB’s proactive Anti-Corruption strategy, NAB has perfected its procedures and has been transform into a vibrant organization due to its remarkable performance in the last 19 months. He said that NAB has further improved its effectiveness of monitoring and evaluation system. Under the system, a unique identification number is being fixed on each complaint on the very first day by every regional bureau and NAB headquarters. The applicants are being informed about their complaints accordingly. This system is called Citizen friendly NAB which is not only to inform the complainant about latest position of their complaint but NAB would ensure transparency in complaint redressal. The conviction ratio of NAB in respected Accountability courts is about 70.08 percent which is unmatched as comparing to such other anti-corruption institutions of Pakistan. Moreover, NAB has fixed ten months period completing inquiry investigations and filing the reference in the relevant court. The fixation of filing reference is yielding positive results. NAB has also established CIT system which had not only helped improving work standards but also makes sure that nobody could influence.
NAB has opened its doors for public and started listening complaints of people on last Thursday of each month. Separate complaint cells have also been established at all regional bureaus of NAB. NAB has inked MoU with HEC to enhance awareness against corruption in students of colleges and universities. NAB has established more that 50 thousands characters building societies in colleges and universities throughout the country in order to aware our youth about the ill effects of corruption at an early age. NAB has also signed MOU with China to oversee CPEC projects being under process in Pakistan. NAB is the only organization in the world for which China has signed MOU to have cooperation to eradicate corruption through best practices. NAB gives top priority to resolve problems of business community. During the recent address of Chairman NAB to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he announced establishment of special cell for Business community at NAB headquarters level which was established on the same day and a Director has been made head of that separate complaint cell. Moreover, Special complaint cells have been established at all the regional bureaus of NAB which will head by concerned DGs. The Business has lauded the efforts of NAB for eradication of corruption from the country, adding that business community assured their complete confidence over NAB under the dynamic leadership of Honorable Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB as Business community have shown full confidence upon NAB as NAB always respect Business Community which played vital role in the development of the country.
