While expressing concern over inadequate security arrangements, Milat-e-Jafria Quaid Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Mosvi on Sunday regretted that despite repeated requests the government did not set up control rooms to ensure foolproof security during Ashura processions across the country.
Syed Mosvi said this during his address to media when he was leading an Ashura procession that started from Al-Murtaza Imambargah Sector G-9/4. A large number of Azadars participated on the occasion to show their affection with philosophy of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).
Mosvi regretted that despite repeated requests, the incumbent government did not bother to install control rooms at the relevant police stations. “When we personally met Punjab Governor Mohammad Sarwar, he assured to resolve this issue and provide comprehensive security during this religious procession, but no particular practical measure could be taken in this regard,” he said.
A police spokesperson, however, claimed in the press release that the procession was supervised by Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police Amir Zulfiqar Khan.
