Pakistan has successfully carried out night training launch of surface-to-surface ballistic missile Ghaznavi, said Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor on Thursday.
“Pakistan successfully carried out night training launch of … missile Ghaznavi capable of delivering multiple types of warheads,” Major General Asif Ghafoor said on Twitter.
The missile is capable of delivering multiple types of warheads up to 290 kilometres.
Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee chairman and all services chiefs have congratulated the team for carrying the successful launch at night time.
The president and the prime minister have conveyed appreciation to team and felicitated the nation on the success.
The launch comes at a time of heightened tension with neighbouring India over the disputed region of Kashmir. The hostility between Pakistan and India has increased following India’s revocation of the autonomy of Held Kashmir. Pakistan has reacted with fury to the Indian decision, cutting transport and trade links and expelling India’s ambassador.
