The Islamabad police on Sunday reunited a minor girl with her parents, days after she was reported missing from Firash Town.
A police spokesperson confirmed to Daily Times that Shehzad Town police managed to trace 18-month-old Minha Zayat and handed her over to her parents.
Sources said that Zayat Ullah, a resident of Firash Town, Islamabad, had lodged a report at the Shehzad Town Police Station a few days ago that his three-year-old son and one-and-a-half-year-old daughter went to a nearby shop to take some edibles, but Minha did not return home.
Sources added that Islamabad IG Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan directed DIG (Operations) Waqaruddin Syed to form a special team to trace the girl.
They said the team searched for the girl in Panjgran Town and hospitals, and even made announcements through mosques about the missing girl.
“Finally, the police team succeeded in tracing the girl from the area and reunited her with her parents today,” the spokesperson said, adding that the parents of the girl thanked IG Zulfiqar Khan and his team for prompt action and reuniting their daughter with them.
He said the IG and DIG (Operations) appreciated the performance of the police team and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for members of the police team.
Meanwhile, the police arrested 18 outlaws, including five gamblers, from various areas of the city and recovered cash, a bike and a weapon from their possession.
According to a press release issued by the IG’s spokesperson Ziaur Rehman, all officials of the Islamabad police had accelerated their efforts to curb activities of anti-social elements and drug pushers.
He said that on a tip, the Saddar superintendent of police constituted a special team under the supervision of Tarnol SHO, which raided a gambling den and nabbed five gamblers identified as Jabbar, Sajjad, Maila, Fida and Shaukat.
He said the police team also recovered stake money, mobile phones, a bike and a 9mm pistol from their possession.
