Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan’s Twitter account was reportedly hacked on Monday night by Turkish hacker group Ayyildiz Tim. The group swapped Bachchan’s profile picture with an image of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and wrote ‘Love Pakistan’ under his bio. They also made multiple tweets from the account.
One read, “This is an important call to the whole world! We do condemn the irrespective behaviors of Iceland republic towards Turkish footballers. We speak softly but carry a big stick and inform you about the big Cyber attack here. As Ayy?ld?z Tim Turkish Cyber Armny +++”
A second tweet read, “The Indian State, who mercilessly attacks the Muslims fasting in the month of Ramadan, is attacking the Ummah Muhammad in this age! Indian Muslims are entrusted to us by Abdulhamid.”
Another tweet saying ‘We are waiting for your support’ carried a link to the Instagram page of Ayyildiz Tim, where the group shared screenshots of the hacked account. All of these tweets have now been removed from Bachchan’s account and his profile picture has gone blank.
Responding to reports of the hack, the Mumbai Police’s PRO issued a statement saying, “We have informed our cyber unit and Maharashtra Cyber about the hacked Twitter account of Amitabh Bachchan. They are investigating the matter. Further updates awaited.”
