The Polyclinic Hospital medico-legal officer (MLO) was removed on Thursday for delaying the postmortem of 10-year old Farishta. The postmortem report later revealed that the deceased was subjected to rape before being murdered. Police were also accused of adopting delaying tactics in the registration of the FIR.
The family of the deceased held a protest demonstration at Taramri Chowk. They held local police responsible for the delay in finding the girl. The protest was called off after they were assured that action would be taken against the Shehzad Town SHO. A case was later registered against the SHO and his subordinates for negligence. On Tuesday, Operations DIG Waqaruddin Syed suspended the SHO.
