Medical reports of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif were declared ‘unsatisfactory’ by a medical board as he underwent echo and thallium scan tests here at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) on Tuesday.
Three cardiac tests of Nawaz Sharif were conducted at the PIC, including echocardiogram, thallium scan and electrocardiogram (ECG). The reports indicated expansion in heart size as its muscle were found thickened, while the echocardiogram test was also declared ‘unsatisfactory’. A three-member medical board comprising Dr Shahid Hameed, Dr Sajjad Ahmad and Dr Hamid Khalil examined Nawaz Sharif at the hospital.
Strict security measures were made on the occasion as heavy contingents of police were deployed at the entrance points of the emergency ward at PIC while attendants of other patients were asked to leave.
Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Nawaz Sharif, expressed deep concerns over the latest echo scanning of her father. She said that symptoms of heart disease were emerging again as per the initial report.
Maryam said she wanted to arrive in the hospital but her father stopped her.
