All arrangements have been finalized to commemorate the 11th martyrdom anniversary of slain PPP chairperson Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in Garhi Khuda Bux on Thursday.
PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, and his two daughters Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari have reached Bhutto House in Naundero. The day will begin with Quran Khwani at the Bhutto family residence in Naundero and at SMBB’s mausoluem in Garhi Khuda Bux. Afterwards, langar (free meal) will be distributed among the attendants. At 1pm, a poetry recital, or mushaira, will be held by Peoples Cultural Wing which will conclude at around 3pm. A public meeting will then be held where the PPP chairperson and co-chairman as well as other top leaders of the party, including former PMs Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Aitzaz Ahsan, Syed Khursheed Shah, Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah, will address party workers.
PPP leaders and activists from across the country have left for Garhi Khuda Bux.
Meanwhile, the provincial Police Department has finalised arrangements for provision of foolproof security at the venue. Over 25 walk-through gates have been installed on gate nos. 8, 9 and 10, and over 7,000 officials deployed to ensure security throughout the day.
Naundero and Garhi Khuda Bux have been decorated with party flags and a sanitation drive carried out in the two towns ahead of the anniversary ceremony.
