New Chhor: A youth community-based social forum Friends Foundation for Health and Help (FFHH) held a social awareness programme entitled “Taleem Zaroori Hai” at the government high school with an aim to empower youths to contribute socio-political services for the society.
Meanwhile, villagers, teachers, union council members, social activists, journalists and people from all walks of life actively participated in the programme and shared their views regarding an alarming situation of education in the region.
Social activists urged political parties to unveil their manifestoes regarding education. They declared that educational system of rural areas, particularly Umerkot and New Chhor, has been in its worst form. The political parties need to devise plans regarding education in their respective regions.
They further elaborated the contributions made by politicians and listed statistics of functional, and nonfunctional schools.
“The statistics support the call for emergency in education,” they remarked while adding that students abroad are analysing other planets and galaxies in the universe.
The programme realised that scientific models are required to enhance educational system and teaching methodologies.
While addressing the participants Sarang Mathrani, a HR activist, claimed that without political support, the proposed mechanism would not achieve its goals effectively.
“We need to engage and share our ideas with them for formulating plans regarding changes in the system,” he added while emphasising parents’ role to keep an eye on studies of their children and interacting with their teachers accordingly.
The renowned educationalist Poonjraj Mal Kesrani said that such programmes can be beneficial where opinion leaders can share their notable remarks and suggest changes in the outdated system for advancement and development.
Besides, the event also featured theatre, speeches, dance performances and songs promoting importance of education. Hanif Nohrio, Rajesh Suthar, Manoj Bachani and Shahnawaz Soomro also participated in the programme.
