RAWALPINDI: In collaboration with Germany, a mock crime scene training facility was established – which was inaugurated by Police Additional Inspector General (AIG) Training Usman Khattak in Sihala.
The commandant of Sihala Police College – Sohail Habib Tajik –German Embassy’ s representative and Crime Investigation Services in-charge Katrin Ladwing and former IGP Shoaib Suddle were also present on the occasion.
The facility features models of murders, bank robberies, suicides and other heinous crimes through which the under-training officers will be prepared about collecting and preserving evidence, analysing them and presenting them before the court.
Usman Khattak– while addressing the ceremony – said that Germany has been providing a remarkable support to the Punjab Police – for improving investigation capabilities by focusing on the latest techniques of investigation and utilising modern technology – that has improved the performance of the police force in combating terrorism and street crimes.
Suddle said that the police station culture can only be changed through training of the police as ‘it is the only solution to combat terrorism and fight street crime in an effective manner’ and added that without protecting the evidence and presenting it before the courts, criminals cannot be convicted and the rule of law cannot be established.
Ladwing told the gathering that Germany is supporting the provincial police force to enhance their investigation capacity to help maintain the rue of the law as crime rate cannot be controlled effectively without providing modern training and tools to the police.
However, Tajik – speaking on the occasion – said that the facility valuablyadds to police training and the college has become a degree awarding institution in criminology.
