The total active Covid-19 cases in Pakistan were recorded at 8,205 on Saturday as 694 more people tested positive for the deadly virus during the last 24 hours.
Six coronavirus patients, who were under treatment in hospitals, died, according to the latest update issued by the National command and Operation Centre (NCOC). No Covid-affected person is currently on ventilator in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Balochistan, while 106 ventilators elsewhere in Pakistan, out of 1,912 allocated for Covid-19 patients, are occupied.
Some 34,468 tests were conducted across the country on Saturday, including 11,708 in Sindh, 12,813 in Punjab, 5,269 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) 4,520 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 1,038 in Balochistan, 506 in Gilgit Baltistan (GB), and 614 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Around 295,613 people have recovered from the disease so far across Pakistan making it a significant count with over 90 percent recovery ratio of the affected patients.
Since the pandemic outbreak, a total of 310,275 cases were detected so far, including AJK 2,649, Balochistan 15,013, GB 3,662, ICT 16,440, KP 37,617, Punjab 99,128 and Sindh 135,766. About 6,457 deaths were recorded in country since the eruption of the contagion, including 2,486 in Sindh, 2,230 in Punjab, 1,259 in KP, 181 in ICT, 145 in Balochistan, 85 in GB and 71 in AJK. A total of 3,420,654 coronavirus tests have been conducted so far, while 735 hospitals are equipped with COVID facilities. Some 924 corona patients were admitted in hospitals across the country.
Pakistan has recorded 280 new recoveries from the Covid-19, according to the government’s database on coronavirus. This has taken the country’s total number of recoveries to 295,613. The database shows that 584 coronavirus patients are in critical condition.
Sindh reported 251 new Covid-19 cases and six deaths, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said. Meanwhile, 207 patients are reported to have been recovered over the past 24 hours. So far, Sindh has 136,017 cases, while 2,492 patients have died from the disease.
Punjab has reported 187 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, up from 77 a day earlier, according to the government’s Covid-19 portal. This has taken the provincial tally of cases to 99,128. The province has also reported one more death from the virus, taking the total to 2,230. According to the portal, 95,314 people have recovered from coronavirus so far.
Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir have collectively reported 119 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.

Islamabad District Health Officer Zaeem Zia cautioned on Sunday against the rise in cases of Covid-19 in Islamabad as the capital recorded over 70 new cases. The DHO took to Twitter, stating, “Inbound movement was apparently the major cause of the spread of the virus”. He said the district administration was taking necessary steps to control the increase of coronavirus, but asked people to be aware of the threat and follow the SOPs.
Earlier this month, health officials, referring to the slight rise in cases of Covid-19 in the capital, said though the numbers were far less than the time when the pandemic was at its peak, an increase in the incidence of infections was enough to ring alarm bells. The majority of doctors in Pakistan have advised the people to continue taking precautionary measures in view of coronavirus pandemic.
On September 15, an educational institute in Islamabad was sealed after the emergence of 16 Covid-19 infections, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) had reported. As per the details shared by the NCOC, contact tracing was carried out at the college to contain the spread of the deadly virus after it was sealed.
