Another 297 coronavirus patients have recovered from the novel coronavirus in Pakistan, according to the government’s COVID-19 portal. This brings the total number of recoveries in the country to 5,114.
On the other hand, caseload in Pakistan had reached 20,130 with more than a thousand new cases reported during the last 24 hours.
Sharing data, an official of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Coronavirus said on Sunday that total 459 deaths had been reported from the disease, with 19 during the last 24 hours. He added total 203,025 tests had been conducted, while in the last 24 hours 8,716 tests were conducted. According to official figures, 7,465 cases were reported from Sindh, 7,494 from Punjab, 3,129 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,218 from Balochistan, 67 from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), 364 from Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 393 from the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
The official said that 1,555 patients had been recovered in Sindh, 811 in KP, 183 in Balochistan, 44 in AJK, 260 in GB, 2,206 in Punjab and 55 in ICT.
He said that local transmission was reported high in new confirmed patients, while some had travelling history. He added that 717 hospitals had been working across the country with COVID-19 facilities, while still many patients were admitted in other hospitals across the country.
Meanwhile, Balochistan confirmed 46 new coronavirus cases, according to provincial government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani.
Of those who tested positive for COVID-19 in Sunday’s update, 44 belonged to Quetta and two to Pishin, according to Shahwani.
Also, Kohat Assistant Commissioner Furqan Ashraf tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement by the district health department.
Ashraf’s brother has also tested positive for the respiratory illness. The statement added that both the patients were self-isolating at their home.
Kohat Deputy Commissioner Abdur Rehman confirmed the news, adding that Ashraf had been working on the frontlines against the virus and was overseeing arrangements at the quarantine centres. On the other hand, eight new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Gilgit-Baltistan, according to the government’s COVID-19 portal.
Over in Larkana, 30 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases emerged on Sunday. According to the deputy commissioner’s office, 146 people were tested positive out of 1,070 tests conducted until Saturday evening, out of whom 102 were self-isolating at their homes, 35 at Tablighi Markaz, eight shifted to Karachi and one at the isolation ward of the Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Moreover, 11 people have so far recovered, while one person expired in Larkana.
Meanwhile, as many as 683 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus emerged in Punjab, the Primary and Healthcare Department said on Sunday. The health department said six more people died from the deadly virus during the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 121, while 22 patients are still fighting for their lives.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday said that 363 new cases of coronavirus were reported over the past 24 hours in the province, pushing the tally to 7,465.
“We conducted 3,032 tests yesterday and 363 of them found positive,” chief minister of Sindh said in a statement.
Eight more patients of the virus died on Sunday and the overall death toll of the disease in the province has reached 130, Murad Ali Shah said. Murad Ali Shah said that Sindh had overall conducted 61,020 tests of novel coronavirus disease with 7,465 positive cases. From fresh 363 positive cases diagnosed in the province, 231 were reported in Karachi, he said.
Murad said 214 patients were cured of the deadly disease over the previous 24 hours, taking the number of patients recovered to 1,555. He said that 76 patients are in critical condition, of them 15 are on ventilators. Likewise, 222 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, taking the provincial tally to 3,129, according to the provincial health minister, Taimur Jhagra. The province also recorded eight more deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 180.
