LAHORE: In compliance with the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s directive, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited on Monday announced to compensate overbilled gas consumers, said a spokesperson. The prime minister was told that as per the initial inquiry, 30 percent of the gas consumers were sent inflated gas bills.
The spokes person said that the extra amount charged from the gas consumers would be adjusted in the next month’s bills. He said that all regional offices of SNGPL were collecting data of bills with pressure factor so as to compensate the consumers accordingly.
The spokesperson confirmed that 26,611 consumers had been identified so far and the company had reimbursed Rs50 mn during the first seven months of the current fiscal year.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan- on February 27- had ordered the authorities concerned to reimburse the amount charged from the gas consumers through inflated bills and act against those responsible. The prime minister had chaired a high level meeting here to discuss the issue of inflated gas bills wherein he was presented a preliminary inquiry report.
