Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar was sworn in as the 37th Governor of the province of Punjab during a ceremony held at the Governor’s House on Wednesday. The Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Syed Yawar Ali, administered the oath to Sarwar. Previously, Sarwar served as the Punjab Governor from 2013 to 2015.
Before the ceremony, the Punjab Chief Secretary, Akbar Hussain Durrani, read out the presidential notification of Sarwar’s appointment.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, members of the provincial cabinet, representatives from the armed and civil services, Inspector General Police Syed Kaleem Imam and others attended the oath-taking ceremony. The chief minister congratulated Sarwar on becoming the Governor Punjab and expressed good wishes for him. He said that Sarwar would use this office for public welfare and his becoming of Governor Punjab is a good change. We will jointly serve the masses and transform this country into a new Pakistan, the chief minister concluded.
The oath-taking ceremony was conspicuous in the sense that it was not held indoors rather huge public gathering was arranged at the sprawling lawns of the Governor’s House.
