LAHORE: Former Sindh Information Minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Inam Memon, along with 11 other suspects, has been handed over to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on judicial remand till November 4 in a corruption case of worth Rs5.76 billion on Tuesday.
Memon was arrested by NAB on Monday after the Sindh High Court (SHC) dismissed his application for bail in a corruption case pertaining to the award of advertisements at ‘exorbitant rates’ through the abuse of his power.
PPP leader and 11 other suspects in the case appeared before an accountability court today, from where they were sent to jail on judicial remand.
In a previous hearing of the case, NAB had claimed that the suspects were involved in corrupt practices in the award of advertisements to the media organizations against the law and they acted with the connivance of each other.
However, Memon had denied all the allegations against him and termed them as “politically motivated proceedings”.
