RAWALPINDI: The mother of the young first officer Ahmed Janjua that was second in command of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) PK661 that crashed near Havilein on Wednesday said that her son constantly complained that PIA planes are in poor condition and are not safe to fly.
“My son would repeatedly say the planes are not fit to fly and they should not be allowed to operate on dangerous routes,” the mother said.
“He was my youngest child,” she said, while remembering her late son.
She further added that I had asked Ahmed not to operate flights to the northern areas.
It is pertinent to mention that on Wednesday afternoon, the ATR-42 aircraft of the PIA crashed into the hillside near Havelian area killing all 42 passengers and five crew members onboard.
