ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Scientists have appreciated government’s decision to rename Quaid-e-Azam University’s (QAU) Physics Centre to “Professor Abdus Salam Center for Physics in order to pay tribute to the famous Nobel award winning scientist, Dr.Abdus Salam.
Talking to Voice Of America, renowned Scientist Dr Abdul Hameed said that such steps will inspire students and prospective researchers to contribute in science and technology following the footsteps of the renowned physicist.
He urged the government to take the example of Iran and Turkey and see their development in the field of science and technology.
Scientist Dr Pervez Hoodbhoy lauded the government’s move and said, “such steps should have been taken in 1980 and this move will certainly open up new opportunities in Pakistan as it will encourage the youth to follow Dr.Salam as a example,” he added.
It is pertinent to mention that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif initiated “Professor Abdus Salam Fellowship program and have decided to rename Quaid-i-Azam University’s (QAU) Physics Centre to “Professor Abdus Salam Center for Physics.
