Military officials will brief parliamentary leaders of both the upper and lower houses on Wednesday on national security issues, according to a statement issued by the National Assembly.
The military officials will brief the parliamentarians in a meeting called by National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, who will also be the chair. The meeting will take place in the Committee Room Number 2 at 2pm.
The parliamentary leaders invited to attend the meeting include Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Senator Azam Swati, Khawaja Asif, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asad Mahmood, Tariq Bashir Cheema, Akhtar Mengal, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Ghous Bux Khan Mahar, Sheikh Rashid, and Amir Haider Azam Khan. Senators Mushahid Ullah Khan, Sherry Rehman, Muhammad Ali Khan Saif, Mir Kabeer Ahmad, Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Usman Khan Kakar, Siraj ul Haq, Sitara Ayaz, Dr Jehanzeb Jamaldini, Syed Muzaffar Shah, Anwar ul Haq Kakar and Aurangzeb Khan are also invited to attend the meeting.
Federal Ministers Pervaiz Khattak, Ijaz Ahmad Shah, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, Shafqat Mehmood, Asad Umar and Senator Shibli Faraz, Attorney General for Pakistan Khalid Javed Khan, Advisor to Prime Minister Babar Awan, and Dr SAPM Moeed Yousaf will attend as special invitees.
AJK President Sardar Masood Khan, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, Gilgit Baltistan Governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon and caretaker Chief Minister Mir Afzal have been specially invited to attend the meeting.
