The Director General Inter-Services Public Relation (DG ISPR) Asif Ghafoor briefed the media that the scheme; of effectively rooting out the extremism from the country is being implemented.
DG ISPR also clarified that this action has been taken to ensure national security and not due to pressure from the IMF and FATF.
Due to financial constraints the plan of mainstreaming 30,000 plus seminaries and 2.5 million students who were receiving education there had been put on hold, the plan was decided on January 2019.
The Ministry of Education in February allocated funds for a new curriculum after the plan of mainstreaming was put on hold.
During the past few months the Army Chief has had increasing interactions with the religious scholars in regards to the limited opportunities in store for students passing out of the religious seminaries.
A need of Rs. 2 billion is needed for the plan to work out with Rs 1 billion to be allocated annually for the same purpose.
