ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital Administrator Dr Altaf Hussain on Saturday said nine bodies of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane crash victims had been handed over to family members.
Hussain said DNA samples of PK-661 crash victims had been collected and efforts were being made for handing over of bodies to their family members. He said 47 bodies had been shifted while family members were also visiting hospitals for the DNA tests.
He said the DNA tests would be started after completion of DNA sample collection of victims and their family members. He said besides PIMS hospital experts, technical assistance from other laboratories would also be obtained to carry out proper identification of all the victims.
Hussain said at least six days were required for the results of the DNA tests, following which the government would ensure handing over of all bodies to their family members. He said the staff of PIMS would continue to work until the completion of data sampling of all the victims and their family members.
