PESHAWAR: Unidentified assailants shot a Police Deputy Superintendent (DSP) dead in a firing incident in Peshawar on Saturday evening, police said.
The shooting incident took place in Peshawar’s Faqirabad area, killing DSP Riazul Islam when he was on his way to home. He was targeted by unknown assailants who managed a clean getaway from the scene.
Officials said that the shooting left the DSP and his son wounded. They were rushed to a hospital, where authorities pronounced Riaz dead.
His son remains under treatment at the hospital, sources said. The slain official was deployed in the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). Police have kicked off the investigations into the incident.
