ISLAMABAD: Grieving families of the victims who lost their lives in PIA flight PK-661 have started arriving at the PIMS hospital in Islamabad.
Among the deceased were three residents from Faisalabad and one each belonging from Dera Ghazi Khan, Mandi Bahauddin, and Chitral.
70-year-old Khalid Maqsood of Abdullahpur, Faisalabad had gone to Chitral 10 days back. The victim’s family lamented while noticing that just before his flight, Maqsood had sent them a text message from the airport.
A resident from Muhammadia Colony, Shamshad Begum had travelled to Chitral on Sunday for passport renewal, and was set to return via PK-661. She had spoken with her son Raja Amir and daughter-in-law prior to her return, but unfortunately that was the last call she ever made.
Air Force Commander Samiullah was among the dead as well. He belonged to Dera Ghazi Khan, and was recently transferred to Islamabad for work. The commander was stationed as an air guard in the ill-fated flight. He left behind his parents, six brothers, and a sister.
Taimoor Arshad of Mandi Bahauddin was to get married 15 days later. Arshad, an engineer in Abbottabad, had gone on a leisure visit to Chitral, and was on his way back home.
Chitral’s Haji Takbeer was on a business trip to Islamabad, but died in the air crash. Relatives arrived at Takbeer’s Bakarabad residence to mourn his death.
Amir Shoukat, belonging from Samundri was also killed in the tragic aircraft accident. No other details related to him have surfaced yet.
