College for tourism and Hotel Management was lucky to have the Provincial Minister for Professional Development Malik Nauman Ahmad Langrial on campus to visit the newly established facility of COTHM.
On the tour, the Minister visited several sections of the college, including the Kitchen Farming at roof top, where the college is growing all kinds of vegetables for the domestic use.
Speaking when he engaged the college management and students, the minister emphasized the need for institutions to highlight the importance of home-grown food. He spoke highly of the college’s efforts as a testament to the fact that skills and education should foster innovation.
Speaking earlier, CEO and Founder COTHM Mr Ahmad Shafiq thanked the minister for coming to the college as his visit had shown the ministry’s commitment towards skills and education. He welcomed government’s decision to open education institutions, which are entrusted to impart skills and build the human resource that will manage the country’s economy.
In his speech, he outlined a number of measures that the college has put in place to ensure that students and members of staff are kept safe from the pandemic. These include the mandatory use of face masks and hand sanitizers, the introduction of temperature checking point at the main gate, social distance indicators in classes and the library and other areas.
On the occasion, newly elected President of Lahore Press Club Arshad Ansari was also present. Mr Nauman Ahmad Langrial congratulated him for his decisive victory.
Ansari bagged 734 votes while his rivals, Abdul Majid Sajid, of the Progressive Panel got 576, and Grand Alliance’s Babar Dogar managed to secure 588. Ansari, who also heads the Journalist panel, was elected to the top LPC office for the second time in a row and eleventh time as total.
